Branding – Eli and Mort’s Epic Adventures

Conceptualized and created a niche children’s action sports brand for adventuring kids including books in four ski resorts. Launched #1 selling books in those four markets. Sold 7,000 books in 18 months. Growing brand awareness through grass roots marketing strategies including retail and digital channels on a shoestring budget.

Now who is Eli and Mort the Moose and why?

First the why? There was a space in the marketplace for families that visited the mountains. There was no big takeaway…connection. So we created one. We wanted to create a book for locals and visitors alike and wanted it to be truly local. We decided to work with local children ages seven to seventeen to illustrate the background pages. We also donate a portion of the proceeds to a local charity. So these books are truly local and a keepsake for anyone that visits their favorite destination resort.

Our beautifully designed characters are created by professional illustrator Eduardo Paj.

Now, who is Eli and Mort? Eli is a five-year-old boy and Mort is his best friend and partner in fun but when other people are around he is a stuffed red moose.

They do all the fun things that kids do while skiing in the mountains. They catch “big air”, drink hot chocolate, watch the night sky, aprés ski and have an amazing time.

and the Brand… The brand is for adventuring kids. Kids who get outside and go big! The first step was to create a market share in the resort world with the Eli and Mort Epic Adventure series of books. To date there are books in Beaver Creek, Vail, Steamboat and Breckenridge. We even translated the Vail book into Spanish.

While continuing our outside sales and marketing of these niche books, we are growing the brand by creating new content and creative new marketing ideas.

Is that big red guy a moose? Yep! Our Mort the Moose mascot costume is a hit for all ages. Everyone wants to high-five Mort the Moose. Whether the 6’5″ mascot is skiing down Vail Mountain during Pink Vail or getting pulled behind horses at the Steamboat Winter Carnival he surely gets attention. Mort loves to give kids a high-five or just hand out stickers.

In addition to self publishing books and distribution, Treehouse Creations has designed plush dolls. Treehouse Creations has the expertise to work overseas to ensure all products are created to meet a strict standard and to meet the client’s budget.
